My mother, 90, has been taking lipitor for several years (20 mg). She has dementia and I'd like to take her off lipitor to see if her memory might improve. Would this pose any danger to her. Is elevated cholesterol at age 90 a cause for concern.

I take Lipitor 40 mg and even with my insurance it cost to much to afford. My insurance recommends ATORVASTATIN 80 MG which would cost me very little. My doctor helps out with samples but doesn't always have them. My question is would the atorvastatin 80 mg be as good as lipitor 40 mg?
