iam a mvp patient.each and everytime after waking from my sleep iam suffering from migraine headache,is there any solution to control this?
Have you tried a beta blocker? Drugs like propranolol, atenolol, metaprolol are great for helping both MVP and migraine headaches. It does take quite awhile before they truly begin to prevent the headache but they usually do help. I used to get migraines several times a month and since starting a beta blocker I only get one maybe once or twice a year! Beta blockers are for preventing the headaches, they wont do much for a headache already in process but talk to your Dr about some of the treatments for migraine. Many people find good relief from drugs like Imitrex and Maxalt.
There are also other medications that you take daily to prevent chronic migraines, e.g. Topomax. You don't want to take pain killers like Maxalt or even over the counter pain relievers more than 2 to 3 times a week or you risk rebound migraines. If you are taking pain relievers almost every day that might be the cause of you having the daily migraines. See a doctor about your problem.
If you can get your doctor to prescribe it, I would get DHE 45 with Phenergan in the injectable format. You inject the Phenergan first and then the DHE 45. It will get rid of the headache in the majority of cases, typically 85-95% for most people. You can then try taking the Propranolol or another drug prophylactically. Other drugs that you can try are Migranal Nasal Spray, Maxalt, or Zomig to name a few. I would not recommend Topomax as it is a very dirty drug and affects your thinking and speech. Have you seen a Neurologist?
