My Psychiatrist feels that taking adderall would help me tremendously. I have a hard time getting out of bed, nothing interests me and when i push myself to do things i never finish one thing before starting another. He told me that he couldn't prescribe xanax & adderall as t the same time. He told me to go see another dr for a rx for adderall. I am on trintellix, xanax and he put me on abilify. Nothing works. I've been on many different anti depressants but none have ever worked when it comes to making me feel like doing anything. I've suffered for a long time now. Does anyone know about this? That both meds can't be prescribed at the same time? Please help i am running out of hope... I also have sleep apnea.

Hi Rose, had you considered that your Doctor may be taking a punt (bet) that the ADD is a major issue and is having a knock on effect causing or aggravating the other symptoms? If you have tried everything traditional, try something new or different maybe?
Sleep apnea? Get some of that head gear that prevents it. I don't know what it is called.
I also suffer from major depression, ADD, and GAD. My dr prescribes me Zoloft, Prozac, clonazepam, Vyvanse, and I just started Rexulti. I’ve tried so many different antidepressants I can’t remember them all but nothing seems to work very well except the Vyvanse. It helps me tremendously because it is what gets me out of bed and helps me stay productive and focused throughout the day. On days that I don’t have it are the days I can’t function and get out of bed. It’s a pattern I’ve noticed. Once I’m up and about I start to feel good about myself as an active member of society and providing for my family. My dr had no issue with prescribing both and out of all the drs I’ve had he’s been the one I’ve actually been able to be brutally honest and open with. Best dr I’ve ever seen by far. I don’t feel the shame when I tell him my depression is getting worse and we work on it. That’s just my experience. I really don’t know what to advise you of since your dr won’t prescribe both but maybe you should try another like he said for the adderall? I hope all works out in your best interest whatever that maybe. That’s whats important.
