I have degenerative disc disease, scoliosis, broke my C4, have arthritis and a ruined ankle (5 tweaked tendons).
Hello Deomona. You didn't say what you are taking for pain, but usually when a script says for breakthru pain, they are also on a long acting pain med also like oxycontin or opana that is taken either twice or sometimes 3 times a day. Breakthru pain meds are generaly prescribed when you have pain that becomes worse at times, & your regular long acting pain med does not work enough. If this is all you take, I don't understand this either. What are the directions? Is it take every 4 to 6 hours as needed for pain? If so I don't undestand why it would say for breakthru pain. The only other reason I can think of if this is all you take, is the doctor doesn't blieve you need pain pills full time. I would most definately take this up with your prescribing physician for sure, but then if it''s handling your pain I'd leave well enough alone...
