Does anyone else have a severe reaction to any fake sugars or hear of it interacting badly with any medications? I just got out hospital cause it swelled my throat. Just looking for answers please.
Hi, you really need a food allergy test to know what you can or can't eat. Did the hospital give you any medication in case you get a similar reaction in the future?
Artificial sweetners give me headaches. They know aspartame, often in diet sodas, can cause lots of problems, including in babies and pregnancy. I stay away from sucrose as well as it also gives me that headache. I recently tried stevia. And birch sugar. Both are ok. Being diabetic I use very little sugar and when I do I will just use natural sugar or white. A teaspoon or less is much better than the others.once one gets away from sugars very little is needed for the taste.
Allergic to sulfa and sulfates in foods. Dried fruits and most raisins I can't eat. Wine also has sulfates. All of these can be found sulfite free if your budget allows.(spell checker keeps putting sulfates. Sulfites are what I mean).
My allergies are known at the doctor on their system and at the pharmacy. Hospital as well. All part of the same group. Other interactions are also in the system for medications which avoids most problems. Ido stay vigilant even in the hospital. Some nurse is always attempting to give me milk of magnesia which I don't need and interacts with my medication.
Since allergies can happen at any time, I am glad that you got to the bottom of this. Read package labels and be careful when you go out to eat. You should be fine. Karen
