I am a white male. I had a triple CABG in 2006. I had no heart attack or heart failure. I take 50mg of Metoprolol, 1/2 tab 2X daily. Is there a substitute that doesn't cause decreased libido, ED, or fatigue besides Lisinopril which I was on briefly but was taken off of due to a cough it developed/?
There are always alternatives. The problem is would those alternatives work as well for you (blood pressure wise) as the Metoprolol? You are on a pretty low dose. Is that the only med you take for your blood pressure? Are you on any other meds for other problems? Different blood pressure meds work in different ways, which is why most people have to take more than just one type. Talk to your doctor about your concerns, see if he/she agrees to let you try something else. The most important thing here is keeping your blood pressure down, which prevents Stroke, Heart Attack, organ damage, etc.
