I have been taking the medications for over 5years. I have been diagnosed with chronic pain do to osteoporosis. I have only one joint let in my foot, my ankle joint I was told last week that it to is starting to deteriorate. My body has become immune to the meds I'm on. Does anyone have have any advice?
Long term narcotic use has actually been proved in numerous medical studies to eventually become the source of greater pain if not taken. After being on them for so long, this may be happening to you. It's important to safely and slowly get off your medication and ideally you can start another during the same period to help with adverse withdrawal side effects.
Dr. Loren Fishman has created several yoga/stretching routines that are specifically for osteoporosis sufferers, osteopenia and osteoporosis prevention. Long term studies have found not only do participants find pain relief, but Dexa scans show actual healing after following Dr. Fishman's exercise plan. It's also only 12 minutes each day so that makes it easier to stick with - I'm very familiar with his work and exercises/stretches so feel free to privatize message if you're interested to learn more.
You can checkout information and find a free picture guide of at least one of Dr. Fishman's osteoporosis exercise routines at sciatica.org.
