Buprenorphine is a Schedule III narcotic under the Controlled Substances Act.

Suboxone (aka Buprenorphine) is an opioid. However, typical opiate and oxycodone drug test configurations are not designed to pick it up even though it is similar. So it has its own category in the drug testing world and suboxone drug tests do exist.
