I have been under more stress this year than ever before. In January I was in the hospital, in February my son was in the hospital and was diagnosed with progressive IGA Nephropathy, in June my husband got hurt and was off work for 8 weeks, I have started to stutter which has never happened before has anyone ever had that happen to them before?
Hello girl4god74. I've had that happen to me through out my life. Still, occurs, not as often because I tend to catch it more when it happens. By catch is I really try to down fight the anxiety, think the words, then speak them.. So, no, you're not alone. Its not uncommon, that this happens when stressfull periods, such as what you're going through occur. The very best of wishes go out to you, your husband and son, take care then.

I've been ill for over 3 years & have chronic pain. Many times I can't recall words I want to say or even what I want to talk about. So, this is like my brain stuttering. When I go to speak, I sometimes stutter as well. I know what I want to say but it just doesn't come out easily. This stuttering isn't constant. When I feel stronger & healthier, I speak more like my old self. When I'm having bad days, I tend to stutter more. I've put this low down on my list of priorities. I'm hoping that whenever I'm better, I'll stop stuttering.
It's extremely infuriating for me since I used to be very well-spoken & had an excellent memory & vocabulary before I was ill. pledge had good advice for you, girl. So, try to relax. Don't feel rushed or stressed. Focus on what you wish to say. If you're able to actually visualize the words, I imagine this would be a big boon to your conversations & to keeping them flowing instead of halting or bumpy.
My husband also helps me by letting me know when I say something that isn't correct. Many times I haven't even realized that it wasn't what I actually had meant to say. I have friends who stutter only with certain sounds or certain letters. I seem to stutter regardless. Frustrating!
Time to take 3 deep breaths & re-focus & start again. :)
