... the years. The one that worked the best for the longest was Paxil CR. Of course it would be the CR with no generic! Well, that pooped out on me about 6 mo. ago. Fastforward to now and I'm facing divorce, a new job and 3 kids who are crushed by the divorce. Deep depression, anxiety and panic began so my doc put me on Viibryd. I'm only in the first week and so far, no relief. I'm just trying to make it day by day. Has anyone had any good luck with Viibryd? My doc said it was totally different than any of the meds I'd been on before and that it should kick in fast. So far, not feeling it. Any advice or insight would be great. Thanks so much
To make it quick and simple; I have been on Viibryd for almost 2 years. It saved my life, period. The best drug I have every used and I have used a lot of them. It worked pretty fast (first inklings of improvement within 2 weeks) and has been consistent since.
Your milage will vary. I wish you luck.
Viibryd did not work for me, although it could work for you. I am what they call treatment resistant. Nothing has worked for me so far. I recently came across a medication named Emsam, I understand it to be in patch form. I go to the dr. this coming thursday and I will ask to try this medication. Depression has to be the worse thing ever to deal with in life. It has literally stolen my life from me.
lawnda - If you began Viibryd with the starter pak - 10mg-20mg-40mg - it may take a couple of weeks to be effective. This is my 1st try with ANY anti-depressant, and it wasn't until the 2nd week - 20mg - before I felt any real effect. I'm not sure if the difference between the other drugs & the Viibryd might be slowing or dulling the response of the Viibryd, but as long as you're not having any serious side effects I would give it some time - a month or two? - see how it goes, and discuss any concerns with your doctor.
I'll second Ronman's post, though - the Viibryd has been a GREAT help for me!
By this time you've got a few weeks experience with Viibryd and maybe are dealing with some side effects. I have experienced several anti-depressants during my adult life, the longest being Wellbutrin. It worked well for many years, then ultimately ceased to be effective. Viibryd was relatively new when it was first prescribed to me, and initially a few of the side effects were challenging. Early on however, Viibryd was making such a remarkable difference in my life, I hung in there and all of the side effects dissipated. Perhaps your physician (or one of our resident geniuses) can explain to you in more detail how it works differently than other anti-depressants. I wish you good luck on this path. I suspect by now you may already be feeling better. Please let us know.
