I can tell thus, when I am stressed my back pain and sciatica pain increases like you wouldn't believe. Stress raises your blood pressure and can lead to all kinds of problems even death.
Women are dieing from heart attacks brought on by stress.
We all have stress, it's unavoidable and a part of our lives. Some people handle stress poorly and this is were "Stress Management" comes in.
There are seminars , weekly, monthly meetings, stress management groups and specialists that deal with people suffering from uncontrolled stress.
So stress management teaches you how to deal with stress so that you don't end up a pill head or drunk or dead from a heart attack. These are very real end results from poor stress management.
So if you or someone you know doesn't handle stress well then definitely check out a "Stress Management Program", it just might save your life... Good luck... Dave
Like Dave pointed out stress management can do a lot of things for different people. In stress management classes you might learn breathing techniques and diversion tactics to help manage pain better until it's time for your next dose or in order to make you stop focusing on wanting meds, a high, or even a drink. You can also learn yoga and other healthy ways to help you cope with things that bother or ail you. You may even learn positive coping skills that you can use in a variety of situations from panic attacks or anxiety attacks to beating depression. In a nutshell, stress management tries to help you get through whatever is causing you stress without you having to turn to a medication, drug, or alcohol in order for you to get by. I hope this helps.
