I have been taken aspirin 3 times a day for 5 years this started after a difficult relationship (silly I know) and is just a habit more then anything. I don't have any effects from them (no high etc it is really just a habit) i decided to stop a week or so ago and reduced to 2 for 4 days and now on 1 per day. I feel fine no side effects or withdrawal but do you think I should now go to one every other day for 5 days then stop so my body slowly gets used to it? I have never been ill whilst on them (no tummy trouble etc) and luckily very rarely drink alcohol, I have always drunk lots of water and been healthy etc) I won't go to a doctor but feel fine doing this and would easily stop completely now but feel I should do it slowly. Thanks in advance
Aspirin is used to treat pain, and reduce fever or inflammation. It is sometimes prescribed in low doses daily to treat or prevent heart attacks, strokes, and chest pain due to its anticoagulant (blood thinning) effect.
Were you prescribed the aspirin by a doctor or is it something you started taking yourself?
Aspirin is not something you should take regularly without doctors consent. There is an increased risk of brain bleed and gastrointestinal bleeding and other adverse effects.
You should really talk with your doctor about this. If you are reluctant to do so then I would advise to taper slowly.
