how long after suboxone would it be ok to take pain medication??
You would have to be off the Suboxone at least three days before the opiate based pain medication would work. Suboxone is a long acting opiate so it stays in the system for 3 to 5 days depending on what dose you are taking. As long as it is in your system it will prevent the other opiates from working.
It would be okay to take pain meds after they wear off,(for ex. if u took a vicodin which typically lasts about 4-6hrs. then u could take it after the vike . You may not feel as good as u normally do with just the sub cuz the Naloxone lasts about 24hrs. which is along time to wait.) My advice is just dont take any other opiates while on suboxone. It's kind of just a waste.
