I am being weaned off Metoprolol and am experiencing higher than normal blood sugars? I have type 2 diabetes and normal glucose level (on meds) is 122. Since reduction in Metoprolol from 25mg/day to 12.5 sugar levels have doubled. Lots of info on adding Metoprolol but scant info on going off the drug.
Any time you change your routine it is going to affect your blood sugar level, diabetes has a mind of its own and when you think you got it down, it jumps up and bites you. I would expect a small increase in blood sugar for a short period of time, but not what your stating. I think that you are doing something wrong or your insulin or meds have to be readjusted or you got to lower your carbohydrate intake, I would also talk to a doctor or diabetes educator, cause something is not right and I doubt that Metoprolol has anything to do with it.
