As i take Naproxen for Arthritis pain I was given Omeprazole but never took them... I know Im silly... but now am getting the most agonizing pains in upper stomach especially bad if I am hungry, I almost called Paramedics last night but it has literally just eased five minutes ago. I burp like a trucker the walls shake..I feel so sick especially in the mornings and am definitely taking the Omeprazole now daily... should I bother the doctor about the pains I am getting? Could it be a stomach ulcer please? Thank you
By the sounds of it, yes. The unmistakable feeling of painful nausea is the giveaway. You should have been tested for H. pylori, taken your Omeprazole (as near as I can tell, side effect free) and had an endoscopy to repair the ulcer caused by NSAID's sticking to your stomach wall and irritating the hell out of it.
You have gotten some great advice.
Is it possible you took the Naproxen on an empty stomach or with not enough water?
The pill could have sat on the stomach lining causing eat to eat away.
So always drink a glass of water with some food.
In any case, you need a doc ASAP. Go to the ER if you can't get into your doctor's office.
Observe your stool for blood. It could be a dark blackish looking color with a weird smell. It could also appear with streaks of a darker color if it's a minor bleed.
The doctor needs to know this symptom.
I was taking naproxen 2 to 3 tines a day for Rheumatoid Arthritis and fibromyalgia. I suddenly started having severe diarrhea daily. This went on for two months and I began having sharp pain in my left abdomen. Went to a gastroenterologist who did a colonoscopy. I had an ulcer in my sigmoid colon caused by the naproxen. I cannot take it anymore and have not found anything else as good at pain relief. If I do take it, a day or two later, I get the sharp abdominal pain again. If I’m desperate, I cut open three liquid capsules and squeeze the liquid into applesauce or oatmeal. It burns the throat otherwise.
