I was just at a new Doc I been seeing. I told him I almost always wake up with screaming pain in my right knee. So he suggested steroid shots in he knee. First he's sending me to get the knees X-Rayed. This all goes back to the pain in the feet while sleeping. Mary sugge3sted 100 mg of Vit C. I'm now up to 2500 mg of Vit C + 10 mg of Flexeril once3 or twice a night. But some times it still happens. Steroids scare me
Has anyone had this done, and did it work?
When it comes to getting a shot I try to run the other way as fast as I can. However, my left knee was reinjured this last summer in a car accident. I was to the point where I could hardly walk because of the pain. My primary care doctor convinced me to get a steroid shot. It was unbelievable. Almost instantly all of the pain was gone. That was 2 months ago and it has not flared up at all since. The shot itself didn't even hurt. I highly recommend you to get one. I think it may really help you a lot. Good luck.
I got steroid injections in my shoulder which did help, but eventually wore off. After 3 more I was in danger of having permanent damage from the steroid injections. The doctor never told me until it was too late. I desperately needed an injection after a major stroke more than 10 years later, but was told--no way could I get another injection. What I would recommend is that you use physical therapy afterwards to get the muscles supporting your knee as good as possible so that you don't need repeats. Or ask the doctor about how to avoid repeat injections. There is a limit to how many you can get, but yes, they do work.
