Can an 88 year old man ask to retain a stent which he received for gallstones some three months ago rather than now have an operation to remove the gallstones and gall bladder. His condition since the stent was inserted has been remarkable - eating very well and no pain whatsoever. Might it be best to 'leave well alone' or is it imperative to have the stent removed.
