Everyone on this page talks about how their skin has improved. I'm more interested in my joint pain and how Stelara alleviates that. Can someone please help me by addressing those issues. I work 9 hours a day on my feet and some days I can barely move when I get out of bed. Some days it hurts so bad I can hardly walk in my joints. I can deal with the skin issues. My biggest struggle is the pain. I don't want to take 10 different kinds of pain medicine in order just to get through the day. Can someone please tell me how its help their joint pain.
Mstack7129: I understand each person responds differently to biologics. I have had PsA for at least ten years. I have taken other biologics. I am on the fourth dose of Stelara. From day one it has done nothing for joint pain. I'm not currently working. I am presently unable to remain in any one position longer than one hour due to pain. Maybe the disease is progressing more intensely than Stelara can fight. I don't know. Other biologicsdefinitely decreased the pain but the side effects were unbearable and/or unsafe. Three weeks ago I started taking turmeric Curcumin capsules to help fight inflammation and the resulting pain. From past experience I know herbs can take weeks to become effective. Ibuprofen worked wonders for years. My body can no longer tolerate NSAID's. Tylenol ES gel caps work short term when the pain Is 8/10. I see another reassessment of medicine in my near future. I hope you find what works for you.
I recently received just a starter dose of Stelara, 45 mg, and believe I suffered a horrible version of a listed side effect - joint and muscle pain. I’ve never endured such comprehensive pain in so many joints - joints that had not previously been affected by my PsA. When I was first diagnosed 15 years ago, I also had a bad reaction to Humira. I guess I’m special that way. Long story short, Stelara is not the drug for me. It perhaps sounds that it is not right for you ;(
As difficult and as frustrating as it is to keep searching, please give yourself the gift of doing so. We shouldn’t have to live as if we are dying if there is something to help with our pain. I have to start again now as well. I’ll wish us all luck and on this seemingly never ending journey.
