Hi all! I was on 10mg Lexapro for 10 months and ha e been off it for about 5 months. I have started on it again (5mg) 2 days ago. So far, I have not had the side affects that I had the first time going on it. Does this mean it won't work second time around? When I first went on it my anxiety went through the roof, I was nauseous, dizzy, I felt hideous for about 2 weeks!! This time, I'm a little tired but that's it. Could it be that my body recognises the drug? Also, I only have milk anxiety, is 5mg enough? I thought this was the therapeutic dose?
Hi, cherrub! No, it doesn't mean the Lexapro won't work. It simply means that you're lucky that you're not having side effects this time around. I've never had a side effect from any medication I've taken and they mostly all worked ~ too well I guess, as I took them for years until they *pooped out*.
Five mgs is the standard initial starting dose, but the maintenance dose is often 10mgs, and that is sometimes raised as high as 20mgs. Better to start out low to acclimate to the drug and raise the dose later if needed.
Best wishes and good luck to you! WC
