I have been on contrave for 3 days now and felt fine , just have dry mouth which is what I expected . My doctor only prescribed it once a day , has anyone else taken it once a day ? If so how were your results . Has anyone also drank on this med ? Thank you in advance
Hi, I do not take contrave, but I will try and provide you with important info you should be aware of.
What should I avoid while taking Contrave?
Do not use narcotic medication, methadone, heroin, or other street drugs while you are taking Contrave. Doing so could result in dangerous effects, including coma and death.
Drinking alcohol with bupropion may increase your risk of seizures. If you drink alcohol regularly, talk with your doctor before changing the amount you drink. Bupropion can also cause seizures in a regular drinker who suddenly stops drinking at the start of treatment with Contrave.
Follow your doctor's instructions about any restrictions on food, beverages, or activity. Do not take other weight-loss products or diet pills unless your doctor has told you to.
Usual Adult Dose for Weight Loss
-Week 1: One tablet (8 mg naltrexone/90 mg bupropion) orally once in the morning; then
-Week 2: One tablet orally twice a day (once in the morning and once in the evening); then
-Week 3: Two tablets orally in the morning and one tablet orally in the evening
Maintenance dose: Week 4 and onward: Two tablets orally twice a day (morning and evening)
Maximum dose: Two tablets orally twice a day
I hope I have been of help.-
I take 4 pills a day. (you work up to that dosage). And it has been a wonderful help for me. I believe it depends on the issues that have caused your weight loss. If you are obsessive with food, then this medication will assist! I don't personally drink alcohol (because of the calories), but many folks do. Some don't want to drink any longer.
