I have battled my weight all my life..I go to the gym 6 days a week.Weigh 225 and only 5' and I am 44. Both parents are diabetics so I am trying to beat this... don't tell me to back away from the table... not all overweight people overeat! This is my last hope has anyone else done this combo??
Hello adele & welcome to the site. metformin is a diabetic drug that aso helps some people lose weight. It's not always backing away from the table that helps, but it's what you are eating when at the table too. It might help you to get a dieteicain involved to make sure you are eating the correct foods in your weight lose program and for your borderline diabetis. This will also help stave off the diabetis. Belly fat is the most dangerous kind to get, & the hardest to lose. Going to the gym is a great idea too as they can help you work on that area in particular. It' a good idea to work all your muscles, but there are execises that are done to work on that area in particular. Am wishing you the best...
It is so strange you would ask that. I am in your same position. Same height.. close to to the same weight. I started measuring vs. weighing myself to not discourage any weight loss. I have also had to fight with weight issues all my life.. and I am sure you know just because it is pre-diabetic.. You don't need to give up. There are many toxins built up in your blood, and the fact that I have been on so many diets( I am sure you as well, since we are both vertically challenged)... Your body is in storage mode--- warning you that that toxins from dieting so much are not in line with your body's natural homeostasis. I was told it would make me really sick, or I would experience loose bowel movements.. I have had the opposite effect.. constipation, so with a fiber additive, it will help the constipation .
I don't eat that much either , probably less than 2000 calories, watch my nutrition, stay off any soda's or carbonation, and get plenty of water. I also eat only good fats, and under 40 grams ( easily) grams of fat, watch my carbs, sugars, and sodium.
If you view it as this approach. You are simply exercising or changing your eating habits just to rid prediabetic toxins. Which can easily be done, and doesn't mean you are a diabetic.
I have also been on Topimax / topiramate quite awhile. The only side effects you will notice is that everything you used to love taste weird..
So, if you change your eating habits, since nothing taste good anyway.. More calories burned than calories ingested = the only real way you lose weight..Topimax / topiramate and Metformin both make chocolate, soda, meat,ice cream, dairy products, and most meats and carbs taste strange , not metallic to me, More like if you just brushed your teeth and drank orange juice.
Hope this helps anyone else who is also in this situation. Exercise will also help with any swelling or edema of your ankles or feet, and knees, and help depression. Which usually are also directly related to weight gain.
