... answers to some of these questions. 1. Can I wear deoderant/ calogne 2. what about beer battered foods 3.If I do have a reaction to one of the above is there anything I can do to lessen the ill effect?
Hi, welcome to the site. You do have to be particularly careful. Deodorant is fine, but mouthwash, for example, needs to be alcohol free. Stay away from any food/s that contain alcohol! One year my mum forgot to check everything and bought a Christmas pudding that contained Brandy, luckily i tasted it on the first mouthful but i immediately got flushed, turned red in the face. If you do accidentally ingest alcohol you should drink plenty of water, but there isn't really anything else you can do. If you take an alcoholic drink while on Antabuse you will want to be calling for an ambulance... i'm not dramatising things. Once you get used to being on this medication it will all come naturally. It is a very good way of protecting your recovery
