I just started taking Belbuca film, 150 mcg. It says to put the film, yellow side up inside my cheek. Is the entire square, including what seems like a cardboard backing, with E1 printed on it to go in my cheek, or is there a way to separate just the yellow film from the backing?
Belbuca is an opioid medicine used to treat moderate to severe pain. The active ingredient is absorbed through the buccal mucosa (inside of your cheek).
Yes, the entire square goes in your mouth. You should moisten your mouth with a glass of water first and then place the yellow side against the inside of your cheek, hold it there for 5 seconds with your finger. Once in place, the film will dissolve completely in about 30 minutes. Do not chew the film or swallow it whole. Do not eat or drink anything until the Belbuca film has completely dissolved in your mouth.
