gs. but cannot sleep. Went back up to 30mg and up all night. Is there anything safe I can take with it to help me sleep?
Hi i have been in a similar position, but was not on such a high dose as you. I had to stop amitriptyline as i started new meds which would have interacted with them. As you probably know, all sleeping medications are potentially addictive (unless herbal) so be careful. I took xanax for a while which worked the best for me. I started taking valerian (herbal) and i believe that if taken over time they help. I also take nightnurse, and travel sickness tablets. I mix them around to prevent the risk of addiction to one product. Speak to your Dr first though as they may be able to help you?
A very safe one is Melatonin. You can buy it at any drug store in the supplement/vitamin isle. I realize how powerful the drug you are on truly is as after taking one I was so loopy but I'm extremely sensitive to meds also.
My psychiatrist gives me Xanax now for anxiety/panic attacks but also to help me sleep with pain. I still have to use Melatonin and she and my Internal Med doctor agrees with this.
It comes in 3mgs, 5mgs, and a max strength of 10mgs. For me I can take 2 of the 3mgs or 1 of the 5mgs but you may need to start low and go up on it as needed.
I hope this helps as I also know how awful it is not to be able to sleep at night esp with pain.
