Hi Mary-Anne,
Well, you shouldn't really discontinue the use of any drug without consulting your doctor first. With medication such as Lyrica it is important to wean off slowly otherwise one can get bad withrawal effects (you can still have them even if you discontinue to use Lyrica over a period of time but probably not as bad as when you simply stop taking the drug). I suggest you see your doctor, speak to him or her about the Lyrica giving you bad side effect and ask if there are any other medications you can take... sometimes it takes time to find the right combination of drugs which will work well and your body will tolerate them okay. Good luck with your treatment. Oldriska

Hi Oldriska
I did talked with my Dr. and he discontinued me on the Lyrica. It gets very frustrading at times I feel my quality of life is just not what I'd like it to be.
Hi Mary-Anne, I feel for you, my quality of life has been poor since my chronic pain condition started. Lyrica gives me relief on most days, but like many patients with chronic pain I had to weigh the pros and cons of taking the medication. I too experience side-effects, but I decided that pain is the worst side-effect I can have... Do you take any antidepressants? I think they're an important part of a chronic pain disorder, depression and strass can only worsen our symptoms. Take care, Oldriska
