... having bladder pain that hasn't stopped in over a week. My doctor is stumped at what to try for pain relief. anti-inflammatories haven't worked. I've had adverse reaction to percaset, and hydro condone w/acetemetiphin. Any suggestions for pain relief?
I have found taking a 1/4 tsp baking soda in a glass of water calms my bladder down within 20 minutes. It's all about keeping irritants out of the bladder for me. If this works for you than try it before bed and first thing in the am. I am also using a product from Young Living that is better tasting but has the same components and works great if I get uncomfortable. Good luck..
I have lived with IC for 20 years. I take Elmiron, tolterodine and manage my symptoms with a very strict IC friendly diet. This has made my life so much better. The Elmiron take a good 6 to 8 weeks to kick in and start reporting the gag layer of your bladder. The best thing you can do is never eat spicy food, fruit juices, acidic fruit, I only eat pears and bananas. Tomatoes, onions, there is a list of what you shouldn't eat on the IC support group in the U.S. Search online. So no spirits either, so wine and shorts are out. I never deviate and I have been urgency and pain free for quite a while now. My consultant says it's my determination and knowledge of my condition that keeps me comfortable. Good luck, this is an awful condition but can be managed if you follow a strict diet.
