It depends on the type of birth control but the general rule is 7 days after your first dose is when birth control becomes effective. You should always use some other form of protection (such as a condom) during that first week. Good luck to you!
If you start them on the first day of your period you are protected right away.
Yes, if you start Day 1 of your period, then you are protected right away. If it is Day 2 to Day 7 or anytime after then you need to use back up for 7 days. If you are unsure, it is best to wait the seven days for intercourse without condoms.
Yes you are protected, but did this stop your period or did you have a normal week flow?
