I was recently prescribed Victoza for weight loss and I am a little concerned about the side effects and or what taking the drug can lead to health wise. I finally got it approved under my insurance so I should be ready to start this week but reading the effects have gotten me a little freaked out. Anyone have anything negative to say besides the nausea and bathroom issues? I appreciate any input.
Almost any drug is going to have a list of possible side effects long enough to "freak you out". They list anything that happened during a drug trial or is reported from patients taking it. Most have little to do with the drug itself
Victoza is approved because it is generally safe and the rewards far outweigh the risks for most patients.
There are a lot of wonderful side benefits to Victoza as well- which don't really make it into the brochures because of FDA regulations. It dropped my blood pressure from 140-82 to 115-68 for example Weight loss, glucose control, lower blood pressure- that's a lot from a single drug
That doesn't mean you'll react well to it. Not every person responds to a drug and some have side effects. Simply watch for symptoms, if they appear discuss them with your doctor
