I looked up on adverse interaction with other substances and quite a large list of them here at drugs.com from antacids to coffee and wondering if anyone has checked this list and what your thoughts on this is? Also, I know Harvoni has only been approved for a year and wonder if anyone has done the drug and been off for more than 6 months and how your feeling now?
Been taking Harvoni for 10weeks, prescribed for 24week treatment. Started with a viral load of over 30million and 4week blood draw it was NON DET. ALT's and AST's also stabilized which in the past were elevated. Specifically asked both my Dr and my Pharmacist about adverse effect of coffee and they both said it was not a problem. Searched this web site and from what I saw it was not an issue. Perhaps you found something I didn't find. I continue to drink coffee in moderation. It's very important to tell your DR and Pharmacist everything you are taking and let them make the call. My next blood work is in 2weeks and was planning on posting my latest results. Good luck, be honest, and don't everythink or worry. Harvoni's been working as a cure in most cases.
I am nearing 3 weeks. I have / had a concern with Omeprazole as this was listed at moderate in the interactions with Harvoni. I have been taking 20mg of Omeprazole twice a day for several years. I spoke with both my pharmacist and prescribing GI doctor. To be extra safe I also ran it past my primary care physician. The consensus was ok as long as there was a 4 hour separation. Hence the benefit of taking time to check the list for interactions was how I decided the time of day I would take my Harvoni. 12:45pm, every day! So far so good. I hope and pray for achieving the results of virtually everyone who has posted and looking forward to my first blood work in about a week. Having lived with this disease since the early '80's following a blood transfusion, has been no picnic. To have a cure in my hand in the orange sherbet colored tablet is frankly unbelievable. This treatment is so much easier than what we have had in the past. I wish you every good luck with your treatment.
