I started taking Effexor as an antidepressant two months ago, since then I've lost 15+ pounds and I black out when I drink 1/8 of what I usually drink. The medication has not done anything for me so I plan on getting off of it soon, I was wondering if I could immediately start drinking like I used to right after I get off or if I should ease into it? I know antidepressants can stay in your system for awhile.
Depending on whether you're taking immediate release or extended release the mean half life of Effexor is five to fifteen hours more or less, meaning that the drug would be out of your system within two to three days.
Effexor treats serious mental illnesses. Self-medicating with alcohol treats nothing.

Will the effectiveness of my antidepressants change if I take it at night instead of in the morning?
