I been taking xannax for panic attacks for a couple months doc wants me to take lexapro I'm scared to take these drugs I'm trying to get help so I can become a better father for my 1 year old daughter and I really don't wanna die from taking these I have had anxiety since the age of 16 I'm now 27 anxiety took my life away and in so drained and depressed from it what can I expect from taking lexapro can I stop anytime or I'm stuck for the rest of my life.
Lexapro is a good choice for anxiety disorders. While you may experience some side effects in the beginning, these generally subside in the first couple weeks and you begin to feel much better very soon after. Side effects you MAY experience are mild headache, mild nausea, and increased anxiety only in the beginning as your body is getting use to the medication. If you need the medication for the rest of your life, then so be it. If not, then you can taper off and see how you do. Don't let others scare you though. Most people do very well on this medication. Very few have side effects that are intolerable. Suicidal ideation is rare.
