What happens when Staph does not respond to the antibiotc?

The docs need to culture and sensitivity of the infection to find out what antibiotics will work. Sometimes it takes 2 different antibiotics at once, IV, to get rid of staph. It also takes a longer period of time on the antibiotic then would normally be used.

My spelling may be off, but he is on Vanco and synercied IV for 8 weeks. No change.

Geez, he's got the big guns, that's for sure. I have seen people on this type of med for up to 6 mos to get rid of the infection.
