My son has had oral surgery, the medicine "dilaudid" 4mg 1-2 tabs per 4-6 hrs is not working. Is this the correct dose?
Medication isn't dosed by weight in adults. Anyone weighing 185 would be considered one. That is 4-8 mg every 4 hrs. That is quite an unusual pain med ordered by oral surgeon. Dilaudid is very strong and normally would start out with 2 mg. I've seen cancer patients on that dose. Is he keeping ice on his face over the area?
