... better until got reverse t3 so went on straight t3 wto get rid of it. My doc wants to put me on t3 and 50mcg of cytomel. What do you think? I have been kept lower thaqn should have cause kept too many syimptoms. What do yiu suggest?
Are you feeling Ok with the new regime? I don't think so, or you wouldn't be asking this. I've told the doctors to skip the T3, I'll go by the TSH and how I feel. I sometimes think the doctors forget the basics. I don't do well with synthroids or porcine extract. Got my blood pressure up- and other problems. So, how is your TSH- are you in range? You have the right to refuse a treatment and demand one that works for you.
Hi. I agree that how you feel is important. Also that your overall TSH should remain under 3 and for me, around 2 makes me feel great. My Endo says that the separate scores have nothing to do with his choice of med and level. They are snap shots of that day. He prefers the overall picture. Thought you should know.
What you use is up to you. All the meds have pros and cons. My docs don't like the Armour because of quality control. And I did switch endos when I thought I wasn't being listen to. Trust your gut on this one.
There is a very good book by Mary Shomon on hypothyroidism--she is a patient advocate and has low thyroid herself. She lists MANY different blood tests that you can take, to help determine exactly what your problem is, and how to treat it. This can get expensive, but, in my opinion was worth it, to FINALLY start feeling human again!
If you click on my Avatar and go to my Bio, you can read about the different things that I have gone through, before (finally) finding the right approach.
(Just a hint: the Endos never care up with it... ).
Good Luck to you,
Mary, the madhatter.
PS: If you type in Mary Shomon's name in Facebook, it will come up with a couple of pages on her. "Like" her professional page and se e what she says. There are other pages dealing with thyroid on FB also, one that I remember is called "Dear Thyroid".
