I have one kidney with high creatinine level & low eGFR plus severe clinical depression. Dr wants to lower my Pristique to 50 mg from 350 mg, any suggestions for other SSRI's? Thanks
The maximum safe level for Pristiq is 100mgs. Taking a level of 350 is way out of bounds whether a kidney problem or not. If Pristiq isn't working, I recommend another SNRI rather than a SSRI. Without knowing your creatinine clearance difficult to recommend. Cymbalta maybe an option if creatinine clearance is greater than 30ml/min.
Looking at the literature, I was only able to find this on Viibryd and renal issues:
Renal Impairment: No dose adjustment is recommended in patients with mild, moderate, or severe renal impairment.
This implies that Viibryd is well tolerated by those with renal problems. The specific reverence mentioned both creatinine and eGFR. Based on this I would say to ask your doctor if Viibryd will work for you if your current anti-depression medication is not working or there is an issue with your kidneys.

I'm switching from Zoloft to Viibryd & having more anxiety. Is this a normal part of switching SSRI?
