What is the reason my doctor has me taking 7.5mg in the morning and 2.5 in the late afternoon.
I seem to feel better and more normal after the 2.5mg dose in the afternoon.
What does this mean.
To me the 2.5mg of Lexapro in the afternoon is like a top up dose. When you take 7.5mg in the morning ... by late afternoon some of this dose would be metabolized/excreted so just a small dose in the afternoon raises its levels enough to level your mood. When you go to sleep at night the slight lowering of the dose is not an issue on your mood. Then you top up the level again in the morning.
I'm guessing that if the 2.5mg dose in the afternoon didn't make you feel better the doctor might have increased that dose. Seems like a good way of dosing.
