It started yesterday evening. I have this burning pain in my upper abdomen and chest that runs up along my shoulder. I have this pain for 2 or 3 minutes then it goes away for a couple of minutes then comes back. No matter what position I sit/lay in it won't stop. Now I'm going on 17. Am I too young to have gallstones? I've recently lost 15 pounds in the past two months of just pure healthy eating and exercise. Does it sound like I have gallstones? My mom and dad think it's gas. I don't want to sound dramatic, but this is not gas. Any idea? Thanks
My gallstone (singular 8mm x10mm) does cause pain from time to time and also blocks the bile duct every now and then; this causes minor pain. In my case it is a pulsing stabbing pain just under my lower right ribs that usually lasts less than 15 minutes maximum. It passes and I don't take anything for it and my Doctor is not concerned. If you have a number of smaller gallstones it is more problematic. You have to see your Doctor as you will need an abdominal ultrasound for diagnosis.
Good luck, Steve
