My son has been on Zoloft for a few years. This is his 4th year on it. He has increased dosage each year. He is now on 50 mg and is 12.5 years old. He has been doing well with Zoloft and we see good results in him. My question is: he still has "social anxiety" and the feelings of "I don't care" ... Although we see improvement, he still demonstrates these challenges. Would it help if he increased to 75 mg? Thank you so much.
Amyrossano; This is very common having to adjust the dosage of Zoloft or other antidepressants as your son gains weight and we all build up like a tolerance to the medication. As long as you and the doctor are watching for any sudden changes in his behaviour be it suicide ideas or sudden mood changes etc. This one has proven to be more effective for kids you just have to trust the doctor and report any new side effects to this medication and double check before given him anything for a cold or such So make sure you buy anything like that at the pharmacy so you can ask the Pharmacist they know much more than most doctors when it comes to medication.Glad you are open minded and making life easier for your son the black box warning is a joke. That they made for kids this could happen to anyone. And you can't tell some are on these medications for many, many years.Hope you have a great day and please post anytime We have many great people here that share each others experienc.hang in there mom.
