he started with .25 and after 20 yrs as worked up to 6mg. has been having the mild seizures for about 10 yrs. this morning he said they are getting worse. he needs intervention and he knows it. he also smokes pot. He was examined for the seizures, ct,etc. nothing physical wrong. Had blood work done 2 wks ago. blood too thick. told him to get transfusions. he refuses.
Sorry to hear of his troubles. If he refuses the transfusions than there is nothing you can do. tell him How sorry you are that you are watching him die. Then ask him if there is anything he wants to do with his things. A sharp dose of reality might make this real for him. Smoking pot can be a great way to sit in a haze to avoid reality. and if he really says no, perhaps someone will be there with the next seizure and dial 911. They have to be tough and ignore his begging not to call. That just might get him help.
Otherwise, it is sad. Very sad. Time to get rid of the enabling and sugar coating and face him with his choice. Maybe family can get togwther and intervene? Check the Dr Phil site about intervention tips. Best wishes to you. I wish there was a magic solution. Just don't know of one.
