He's now 7 and although it seems to help him I hate him being on it. He's diagnosis was ASD and ADHD. He has extreme anxiety but that was just put down to his diagnosis.
Cameroonie; I am so sorry for you and your son. But it is very common to use these medications with your son's condition, I can't even count how many I have dispensed when I was still working. and it was and is more effective than just about any other medication. But I would still tell the doctor about your concerns. I know how hard this is on him We really wish we could get away without giving our kids anything but my blessing are with you. I have seen so many kids with meds when little and ones that waited until the were older And I would put my money on the parents that do all they can and give their child the medications they need to connect with the real world God bless you and your family. But by all means, if this worries you call or talk to the doctor when you go in again. AND REMEMBER MY FRIEND THERE IS NO SHAME IN GETTING A SECOND OPPINIUN. Have a good day. Chuck1957
This med is not prescribed by the FDA for ADHD/ ADS. I do not believe it is even off label. It is a anti-psychotic med. It is also know to be very activating and can cause anxiety. I would seek a second or even third opinion. There are so many other alternative to help with your son's diagnosis. I am surprised that he was put on this drug at such a young age. Sometimes it is easier to pop a pill than to try alternatives and or the meds that are approved for ADHD and ASD.
I understand you not wanting him to be on it, trust your intuition.
