Gained weight and avoid talking to me or his father
I dropped out of school to play World of Warcraft, and I wasn't depressed at all. I dropped out because I loved the game and hatet school more than anything. I played for 2 years straight 16 hours a day, and all I cared about was winning and being the best.
My mum thought the same thing as everyone else, depression, blabla and so on. But she had the guts to actually sit down and ask me what was going on and I told her straight up. She understood it a little bit, but of course not 100%, because you have to be in the situation yourself. My advice to you is just talk with your son and ask him about everything you have on your mind. And don't judge him like something is wrong with him, because that is not always the case.
Oh and by the way, after my years of non social activities I got a job at the biggest companies in my country that produce video games, so I think he will be just fine. (and I lost all the weight I gained.)
