I take 10 mg twice a day as needed for
I take nortriptyline for depression and anxiety which similar to Amitriptyline. I take 75 mgs. It depends what your reason for taking it is. For anxiety/depression like 150mgs Amitriptyline
I take 100mg at night for insomnia which I grew tolerant to so I frequently bump it up to 200mg
Originally I was prescribed for chronic migraine disease but it didn’t work.
When I first took it I was at 50mg and first 4-6 days I barely made it to my bed and started taking it at supper time so I could actually wake up and not be utterly useless.
It did absolutely nothing for my chronic anxiety and depression.
It’s mostly just prescribed for chronic pain as there are many more newer, much more effective drugs today for depression. Many have great success.
You could try Amitryptilines sister drug noratryptyline. It has far fewer negative side effects.
