I am starting fertility treatment and am getting an HSG, hysterosalpingogram, done in a few days. I was reading the info packet and it says I shoul have someone to drive me home after the procedure. My doctor did not mention this when she scheduled me and I don't have anyone to take me. It is about a one hour drive home. Is it absolutely necessary to have someone else drive? Should I cancel my appt.?
You need to call the office well beforehand and let them know you dont have someone to drive you. It may be that they need to sedate you or it could be that you may have pain and cramping after and it would be unsafe to drive so you may need to reschedule. If it says you need a driver then there is a reason for that and you probably should have a driver especially that long of a drive. If they sedate you, they cant let you drive afterwards and you would be cancelled when you get there so before you drive all that way just to be unable to do the procedure, you need to call first.
