They aren't in the same class. I know that if you're allergic to penicillin you have a slight chance of being allergic to cephalosporins(the class cephelexin is in) but I don't know if it goes the other way. Augmentin is a penicillin. I would just be sure to have benadryl on hand when I took the first dose.
