... Soma, Lorazepam and Ambien) are being moved to Class II drugs by DEA and therefore Medicare and Medicaid are dropping them from the formulary of covered medications. Is there any truth to this???
It is way more convoluted then that. Medicare pays for schedule 2 meds so why would they stop these, if that was the only case. CME, the organization that rules medicare has stated that certain drugs are harmful over the age of 65 and this is the reason for this. My part D used it as an excuse to raise my copay on all the medications I take for chonic pain.
I don't know how a birthday changes your body immediately so that now what was ok, is now harmful. They say its because of the fall risk for one thing, well I won't fall without them, because I won't be able to get out of bed. I havent' heard that they were wanting to move them from a 4 to a 2, that would be a big move, and won't happen overnight.
