Hi bluelizard. I'm a bit confused. Unlike methadone, Suboxone has one use only. To help one quit opiates. So there's really no formula for comparing mg to mg. If you have a 160mg oxy habit, and you wait the appropriate length of time before starting subs, it could take 4mg or 16mg to control symptoms. It all depends on your system. If you use the oxy's for pain control, you'll be disappointed in the suboxone. It's main purpose is to prevent withdrawal symptoms, not control pain. The good news is if you're using the oxy for pleasure only, and you really want to quit the addiction, the subs CAN work well for you. But keep in mind you need a licensed suboxone doctor and usually counseling is mandatory. Pattishan61 has the best info on subs. Please look her up and read her profile. And don't let any doctor tell you higher doses of suboxone is needed. It will make it that much harder to ween down and eventually off the subs. You can always take more. If 2mg or 4mg doesn't control the withdrawals, you can take 2mg increases until the symptoms are under control. They can also be very expensive as some insurance companies do not cover them. You can do an online search for suboxone doctors in your area. Good luck to you and have a great new year too!
