... off putting one on. He started me on 25mcg and I change the patch once every three days. Will this affect my chances to quit smoking? I posted on the 12th that I promised everyone I would quit. I have smoked three times since then. I am so ashamed of myself. Can anyone out there answer my question about the patch and if it will affect my chances of quitting?
i have been on the fentanyl patches going on 3 months now and i do not believe it will impede your chances to quit smoking. My docs know I am on the patch (75/every 48 hrs) and will start the Chantix soon as I get the script next week. I found this site that is very informative regarding people who are employed, unemployed, now insurance, under insured and/or experiencing financial hardships. I just got done filling out the form for my doc and see how it will go. I can't afford the price of Chantix on my own and because I have to have future surgeries, I have been ordered to quit smoking... or he won't do the necessary surgery. Here's the site and I urge you to take a gander at it. I was scared to death to start the patch after I went on line here and read the stories of people who are on it and was scared I was going to become an overnite addict. I didn't start it right away in the beginning...
think it took me almost 2 weeks to get the courage up to put one one. Started out at 12.5 every 72 hours and was upped on doses appx. every 10 days (legally the prescriber must give it 10 days to see how your body reacts/responds to the dose. Anyway, my pain is so out of control he has upped me to the 75 mcg and I change them every 48 hours. It's amazing how much better it has worked out for me. I still take Norco and Carisoprodol for breath thru pain. HERE'S TWO SITES: http://www.aspe.hhs.gov/poverty/ and these: http://www.pparx.org/ ... http://www.pparx.org/prescription_assistance_programs
