I have restless leg/arm syndrome,chronic pain(stenosis),fibromyalgia!
I think I'm going mad! Any HELP?
Dear SGORDO46, Haven't slept? I don't know your med hx or anything like that, but I have been on Trazadone 100 for many years. Sometimes I only use half. It is an anti-depressant, but it is intended to help you sleep. Take it at exactly the time you go to bed, it works very fast. No drowsiness in the morning at all, just a peaceful restful sleep. I take just a 1/4 of a pill and it is effective, so I didn't build up a tolerance to it over the years. Maybe ask your Dr if this a consideration. Hope this helps, good luck! (I have chronic back pain)MRSDJMCW
I also have chronic pain, muscle spasms, a very hard time sleeping...
Are you currently on any medications? I cannot advise, help, or let you know about what has helped me best...
Without knowing what you are on or have tried...
Can however say I add melatonin to my meds and helps me sleep relax and also helps with muscles/chronic pain... -OTC-
HOPE YOU FIND PEACE SOON, TAKE CARE!
I too feel your pain: I have suffered with chronic insomnia for years, well before I was dx with fibro, Sjogrens, back issues, etc. 15 + years ago.
I also can't advise not knowing the cause of your not sleeping i.e. insomnia or pain. If it's insomnia: I started with melatonin (otc) but not long after, I had to add Trazadone which my doc said was so safe I could be on it for life (no worries about addiction).
Unfortunately, the older I get and more pain I have, the more it takes to sleep.
What have you tried?
P.S. I just recently learned from my daughter's pediatrician (yes, it's so safe my 13 year old takes it: she has my genes; poor thing) That you have to take melatonin a whole hour before you go to bed. After learning this, I went back to it along with my Trazadone and it worked! I am finally backing off of my Ambien! Good luck, not sleeping for even 1 night makes me feel like I'm loosing my mind. After 2 you start jumping out of your skin! I so hope you find relief soon!
Look into vitamin D levels. Possibly see a Chronic Pain Specialist, if you are not already. Consider seeing a sleep specialist. I have had chronic pain for more than twelve years and good use of narcotics has kept it under control and sleeping in a lazy boy type chair keeps my body from twisting at night. Both help a great deal towards my chronic pain.
I could not figure out why I was tired all the time, falling asleep at inappropriate times and places. I thought I was anemic; I was at my wits end. Thankfully my regular doctor sent me to a Sleep Specialist. I underwent 3 night time sleep studies and 2 daytime (night followed by day). I found out I had Narcolepsy. I am being treated for it now as well and I sleep better than ever, and I no longer fall asleep instantaneously at all. It used to be I could fall asleep 10 times in 15 minutes and yet I could never sleep well. It's possible you may have both conditions, but only testing can tell for sure.
