Sleepwalking before bedtime?

for the past week I have been experiencing smthng very disturbing and wonder if anyone out there has heard of this.
Basically I'm usually in the kitchen checking my phone. I'm standing and all of a suddenly I'll fall asleep for 3 seconds and immediately start dreaming. I'll blurt out bizarre stuff then fully wake up. This will repeat until my husbands tells me to go to bed.
Has this happen to anyone. I don't drink. But take meds. Any ideas? I'm scared.
Opiate pain meds can cause this phenomenon, are you taking any opiates?
Don't know if my original post went through or not... so please bear w/me if I post 2x. I'm just wondering if you take any sleep meds like ambien, lunesta, etc. In this regards I've heard stories of people sleep eating, making phone calls AKA sleep dialing, having sex, even sometimes driving (pretty scary) all of which they have no memory of later on. Although recently when I tried ambien (which didn't work so well for me) in the two or three hours that I managed to sleep, I don't think I did any sleep walking, but then again I live alone with my 2 cats and they're keeping pretty quiet on this one... Best, BNC
Cathleen, the only time that I ever zoned out like that was when I was taking methadone. I would stand in the kitchen and just be amazed at the water falling from the faucet. that is why I quit taking it. What meds are you on? Anything like that? just asking. it must be scary, I'mm sorry I don't have any good answers for you. When I first started to take Suboxone I would have really strange dreams. but nothing like that while awake. Feel free to contact me privately if you want. I'm usually awake until 3-4am in the morning. NIK
Do you take ambien, that can cause sleep walking and eating while you sleping and dont know if you fel asleep already and other sruff in your sleep, let me know? And what other meds are you taking?
Neurontin can cause this for sure. Also Topamax can. Along with the usual suspects people posted above. Definetly talk to your doctor about it.
I know I get strange dreams that sometimes scare me so much that it takes hours to get over them. My husband says that I do talk in my sleep sometimes and I even woke myself up before when I was trying to scream Daddy. All that came out of my mouth was Dad before I realized I was having a terrible nightmare. I want to get off the neurontin but I tried cold turkey and ended up with sweats and feeling very afraid when waking up in the middle of the night. I got down to 300 mgs. per night and now I'm back to 400 mgs. per night. I take benadryl to sleep and sometimes I'll take 3 pills equaling 75 mgs. I feel totally drugged out in the middle of the night and when I wake up but I can't sleep if I don't take these meds because the suboxone won't let me sleep especially if I take it in the afternoon. I'm a mess. Just make sure you tell your doctor about this sleep walking. :) Larsy1966
