I have been on fieocet for 4 years although helps sometimes I can't sleep.I have tried every headache Med out.if anyone suffers. Similar symptoms I would appreciate your story.thanks
I assume you meant fioricet, which is used to treat tension headaches. It contains acetaminophen, butalbitol and caffeine. It can cause irritability, headaches and sleeplessness. Have you been taking it at bedtime? The caffeine could be part of the reason you are having trouble sleeping. If the fioricet is working well to control your headaches, perhaps you can talk to your doctor about adding a mild sleep aid. I was taking fioricet for many years, a long time ago. I don't recall having trouble sleeping though. I had 2 small children, so, naturally I was irritable! LOL!!! Now I take hydrocodone for my headaches and an old tried but true sleep medicine called Estazolam. Just 1mg helps me sleep soundly with no problems waking alert. Most doctors forget it is still out there on the market. This combination works well for me. I hope this helps.
Hi, you might find this following paragraph helpful...
"For many people with migraine attacks, Triptans are the drug of choice. They are effective in relieving the pain, nausea, and sensitivity to light and sound that are associated with migraines. Medications include Sumatriptan (Imitrex), Rizatriptan (Maxalt), Almotriptan (Axert), Naratriptan (Amerge), Zolmitriptan (Zomig), Frovatriptan (Frova) and Eletriptan (Relpax). Side effects of Triptans include nausea, dizziness and muscle weakness. They aren't recommended for people at risk for strokes and heart attacks. A single-tablet combination of Sumatriptan and Naproxen sodium (Treximet) has proved more effective in relieving migraine symptoms than either medication on its own".
I know there is a lot of information here to consider. I would advise you to discuss these treatment options with your doctor and see what he/she thinks?
